Tech Summit Presentation
“The IoT ecosystem – what is crucial to its success and why disruption is good”
The fourth industrial revolution is with us. A key enabler of this digital change has been attributed to the Internet of things. However, organisations still struggle to adopt these key technologies; whilst it is widely seen as disruptive, multiple businesses are struggling to develop the right ecosystem to ensure client adoption and success.
Charles will discuss how the ecosystem is essential to this revolution. How small, medium and large businesses can develop a ‘win-win’ economy. He will present how IBM is working with multiple SME vendors to develop a shared servitised revenue scheme and transition them from a traditional capex to an ‘as a service model’.
Charles will also discuss the key challenges within the ‘Internet of Things’ market and why the ‘ecosystem’ is fundamental to driving standards.
There is an opinion that the first wave of internet based innovation displaced a lot of traditional companies, however the next waves of IoT will be an enabler for existing businesses; domain knowledge and application experience will be key.
