Inovo Building, George Street, Glasgow G1 1RD
9 March 2017, 10:00am – 3:15pm
Please register your interest and apply to join CENSIS, Microchip and Arrow for a free, interactive design workshop; part of a series of seminars brought to you by the CENSIS IoT Centre.
Background
The IoT Centre at CENSIS helps SMEs overcome many of the challenges they face in product development and allow them to fast-track the development of IoT products and services. In addition to a demonstration area and project development space, we offer regular technology seminars with high profile vendors to provide advice and guidance on how best to use their products to generate greater business efficiencies.
Who Should Attend?
These workshops are aimed at experienced design engineers, keeping them up-to-date with the latest technical developments around connected devices and IoT.
This one is aimed at design engineers with an interest in designing long-range IoT solutions based on the LoRaWAN™ MAC Class A protocol. Regrettably the workshop is not suitable for current undergraduates or new graduates/students.
Aims & Objectives
Over the course of the day, delegates will learn the basics of this long-range network structure, including the modulation scheme, and the parameters that allow this extraordinary range.
In the morning, we will cover the theory in sufficient depth to allow you to start development right away. After lunch, you’ll be up and running with the RN2483 LoRaWAN™ module, with a hands-on session working with the simple UART interface and connecting to a real LoRa™ network.
At the end of the day, you will have the skills you need to start your own development with this technology.
Agenda
- 9:45am – Registration and Coffee
- 10:00am – Introduction to the day
- 10:15am – LoRaWAN morning session
- 12:30pm – Lunch, including a tour of the CENSIS IoT Centre
- 1:15pm – LoRaWAN afternoon session
- 3:15pm – Final questions, wrap up and close
Required Kit
Delegates will be asked to bring their own laptop with some pre-installed software on the day. Software installation instructions will be sent prior to the event.
Register your Interest
Places for this event are strictly limited to a maximum of 14 delegates, and demand is likely to be high.
To register your interest please go to our Eventbrite page and complete the application form. We’ll review your application and will be in touch to let you know if you’ve been successful in securing a place. Please note that because of the limited number of places, we’ll have to give priority to engineers with experience or a proven interest in this area.
This is joint event from CENSIS, Microchip and Arrow, and your application information may be shared with all three organisations.
