IoT Demo Centre CENSISAn introduction to IoT

In partnership with Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, please join staff from CENSIS to explore the Internet of Things (IoT), and how it can affect your business.

IoT is everywhere.

In cities, traffic flow and street lighting can be optimised, air quality measured or refuse bins could signal that they are full.

At home and in offices, heating, lighting and air temperature can be controlled.

Appliances and wearables can be connected for health and lifestyle.

But what does this mean for your business?

IoT phoneIn this session aimed largely a non-tech audience, you will find out more about what’s going on in IoT today and get some ideas about how you could create efficiencies or innovate in your business. We will go beyond the initial hype where the talk was about your fridge reordering your shopping, and explore some of the practical, useful and affordable ways IoT can be used to bring real value to your bottom line.

IoT isn’t just for big business; there are IoT applications available right now that could be used by smaller companies, such as energy conservation, or tracking vehicles or equipment without the need to install the expensive systems that bigger rivals might have.

You will also hear about the new IoT Centre at CENSIS, which offers a business-friendly environment and support if your company has technical challenges.  You will also hear about opportunities to trial (for free) your IoT ideas on their LoRa™ network which is suitable for connecting devices.

On the day Dr Mark Begbie and Dr Stephen Milne from CENSIS will lead this discussion and there will also be time allowed for networking and questions.
