The University of Glasgow’s School of Computing Science has issued a call for proposals for its Software Team Projects course for the new 2020-21 academic year.
Each year, this course introduces students to the challenges of working in teams on software projects for real world customers. Over six months, the students have an opportunity to engage in projects that have real world impact and work with customers with a range of expertise and experiences.
Students take on the responsibility for negotiating with customers, agreeing and prioritising requirements, and managing project timelines and deliverables. They are also required to continually demonstrate their progress to their customers, gather feedback and adjust to new priorities and demands.
Customers can benefit from having students work on turning their ideas into reality: according to the School of Computing Science, a significant proportion of previous projects have been actively being developed or deployed to real users.
Ideas are welcomed from charities, social enterprises, SMEs or a large international company.
The deadline for submitting proposals is 31 August 2020.
Visit the school’s project pages for full details and see examples of past projects.
