CENSIS was delighted to see four companies it has worked win awards in Round 16 of the Scottish EDGE finals on 7 October 2020. Aimed at identifying and supporting Scotland’s innovative, high growth potential entrepreneurial talent, Scottish EDGE is delivered twice per year, and has supported hundreds of early stage Scottish businesses with awards totalling over £15M.
Intellipalp Dx, Craft Prospect, Utopi and Topolytics took home awards valued at a combined total of £230K. There were 33 winners on the night, and a total prize pot of £1.08M was awarded.
- IntelliPalp Dx, a spin out from Heriot-Watt and Edinburgh universities, was awarded £75K for its innovative ProstaPalp device, which provides an objective exam for prostate cancer diagnosis and management. The company aims to revolutionise prostate cancer screening by providing more accurate testing at an early stage, leading to reduced patient anxiety and more efficient diagnosis. The company is currently working with CENSIS to accelerate the process of bringing the test to market.
- Space engineering company Craft Prospect, awarded £80K, is looking to create a safe way of exchanging cryptographic keys between IoT systems and the cloud, enabling secure communications channels to be set-up. The company was one of the winners of CENSIS’s inaugural IoT cyber security accelerator programme earlier in 2020, winning a bespoke package of engineering and business development support.
- Utopi, a Scottish SME focusing on smart buildings technology, won £30K on the night. The company’s IoT technology helps owners to better understand how their assets are being used in order to optimise their return on investment. CENSIS is working with Utopi on the further enhancement of its leading edge systems to help the company position itself as an innovation leader in the field of building and facilities management.
- Winners of a £45k award, Topolytics is a software platform that combines geo-spatial technologies and analytics to make sense of environmental data from a growing array of sources, including mobile and fixed sensors. CENSIS has partnered with the company on a number of activities including a collaborative R&D project in partnership with St Andrew’s University on gas emission detection.
