The opportunity

Organised by the Scottish Government and CENSIS, Scottish businesses interested in developing ideas and opportunities in sustainable electronics are invited apply for this important collaborative event between Germany and Scotland. Three places are available. Contact natalia.lukaszewicz@censis.tech for further information

The growth and importance of sustainable electronics

Digital transformation and new, complex microelectronic systems are driving up data volumes, resource use, and energy consumption. Given the need to meet climate targets, there is a critical need for new electronic systems that can focus on reducing energy and resources, and improving efficiency.

The roundtable

This event brings together approximately 20 researchers, innovators, investors and entrepreneurs from Scotland and Germany with a shared mission to accelerate progress in sustainable electronics and wider Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

Aims

The roundtable seeks to identify areas of mutual interest and potential opportunities for research and collaboration within the context of UK, German and EU programmes, specifically around:

  • advancing research in this space
  • exploring processes for the commercial exploitation of research outcomes.

What will the day look like?

Participants will spend time exploring how to translate research into real-world impacts to drive economic growth and sustainability. Subjects discussed might include;

  • What needs to change to improve the reusability and remanufacturing of semiconductor components?
  • How can we introduce sustainable materials, e.g., biodegradable and non-toxic, into electronics manufacturing?
  • How can we enable a low carbon footprint in the high data consumption society?
  • How can we improve energy efficiency in high-performance computing?

After the roundtable ends, delegates will be invited to attend a St Andrew’s Day reception in Berlin with a buffet, ceilidh and whisky tasting.

Interested? Get in touch

If you would like to attend, please get in touch with Natalia Łukaszewicz, CENSIS Business Development Manager in the first instance – Natalia.lukaszewicz@censis.tech. There are three opportunities to attend. Closing date 11 November.
