CENSIS is working with Dr Jeff Kettle from the University of Glasgow’s School of Engineering to deliver a one-day workshop on sustainable electronics.
With a mix of delegates from academia, industry and public/third sector organisations expected to attend, the workshop’s aims are to generate partnerships able to secure future grant funding, identify other research, and generate business development opportunities and activities.
About the day
The workshop will investigate sustainability for electronics. This will include design, prototyping and fabrication, manufacturing for energy and materials-efficiency, securing the most efficient and sustainable options for the lifetime of a product, and managing the end of life of a product for a responsible circular economy. On the day we expect to discuss these issues and more:
- Demonstrating new concepts
- Design considerations
- Prototyping and fabrication
- Manufacturing, including the carbon cost of manufacturing
- Battery and energy harvesting
- The end of life of electronics and photonics
- Other potential research themes such as biodegradable sensors, materials, and printed/flexible electronics
