About the Event
Sensor devices are everywhere: a recent estimate predicts that by 2020 sensors will account for over 60% of the total installed base of the 30 billion devices in the ‘Internet of Things’. This staggering number requires sensor technology to reduce physical dimensions, weight and become more energy efficient.
To achieve these requirements, sensor and instrumentation technologies have driven devices to micro and nano length-scales, Emergent materials and methods for sensor fabrication are becoming commercially applied, such as the ‘wonder material’ graphene, which is starting to realise some fascinating industrial applications.
