Background
The EPSRC funded Centre for Doctoral Training in Integrative Sensing and Measurement (CDT-ISM) is a joint initiative between the Universities of Edinburgh and Glasgow. The Centre delivers a multidisciplinary research programme in sensing research in conjunction with a range of international and industrial partners.
About the Event
In the first of a planned series of one-day summits on different sensing technology themes, please join staff and students from CDT-ISM to discover how your business could benefit from the skills and talents from researchers in this network.
Precision Measurement
Measurement is perhaps the most fundamental scientific capability and underpins all scientific advances. This multidisciplinary event will cover all aspects of precision measurement across all physical domains, highlighting the fundamental commonality of techniques and challenges in precision measurement; ranging from electromagnetic and optical measurement, through chemical sensing to gravity measurement.
With a strong emphasis on networking and making new connections, the programme includes:
- Presentations from leading academics and industrialists
- Poster presentations on new research areas
- Break out sessions and discussion groups
Opportunities to present
There will be presentations and posters from CDT-ISM researchers and industry, including CENSIS CEO Ian Reid.
There are opportunities for companies to present a case study in the area of precision measurement, particularly where a project was completed with a university research group. Alternatively, talks are welcome on some of the technical challenges or opportunities in an organisation that could be addressed in partnership with the CDT-ISM. Submissions are welcome in a range of topics, including, but not restricted to:
- Precision measurement in acoustic, chemical, optical, time/frequency, space, electromagnetic, gravity domains
- Quantum measurement
- Multi-domain and cross-domain measurement
- Precision measurement in challenging environments
- Noise, error and uncertainty in measurement
- Signal processing for precision measurement
- Inversion problems in measurement
