CENSIS part of consortium for more efficient and resilient dairy industry
A digital dairy project led by Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) has been awarded £50,000 in seed-corn funding from the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) flagship Strength in Places Fund.
The funding will be used to produce a detailed application for a much larger Strength in Places Fund project, aimed at establishing South-West Scotland and Cumbria as the leading region for advanced, sustainable and high-value dairy processing.
SRUC will lead a consortium of partners including CENSIS, to develop the Digital Dairy Chain for South-West Scotland and Cumbria project, to help create a more efficient and resilient dairy industry. By using digital twinning, combining digital communications and advanced manufacturing, it will enable the tracing of milk, cheese and other products and provide assurance to retailers, wholesalers and consumers.
Led by SRUC, the consortium partners include the University of Strathclyde, the University of the West of Scotland and Dumfries & Galloway Council, in addition to several dairy-processing and enabling technology companies including CENSIS.
